AYROC's next activity will be on Saturday 17th February 2024 on the edge of Irvine.
The venue is the Shewlaton wildlife reserve in Irvine, courtesy of the Scottish Wildlife trust. The visitor car park is behind the UPM Irvine paper mill in Meadowhead Road, at grid reference NS337357 and post code KA11 5AT, Lat 55.587 Long -4.639. As it will be a Saturday morning the car park is likely to be busy with dog walkers. If that is the case, please find a safe place to park in the streets of the surrounding industrial area or use the nearest corner of the paper mill car park, which is signposted for visitors. The start and finish will be approximately 400ms from the car park along the cycle path and will be sign posted or taped. Registration and First Aid will also be located there.
While most of the reserve is rough and very marshy with little contour detail, today’s courses are runnable. Care is required in the boggy areas and with brambles.
Please choose between a Green course 4.4km, Short Green 2.5km and Yellow 2.8km.
There are no toilets but the nearby supermarkets may be able to help. Cafes are available in Dundonald, Troon and Irvine.
Instruction will be available for those who wish before the event. If you want to do this please state this on the form and come half an hour before the event.
The cost of the activity is £2 per person or £5 per family.
Please fill in an Microsoft form for each entrant. The closing date for Entries is Thursday 15th February 2024 at 10.30pm.
