Solway Orienteers are hosting an exciting weekend of orienteering in February.

Solway Orienteers are hosting an exciting weekend of orienteering in February. On Saturday the 24th Feb it's the Scottish Night Championships in the grounds of the Crichton and the surrounding parks and environs. This is an area which will be new to most orienteers. The courses make use of the parkland in the Crichton grounds, which was once the location of a traditional psychiatric hospital. So expect parkland with scattered buildings - a terrain which you are wise not to underestimate. The longer courses will loop out into the further reaches of Dumfries and will offer the competitor the challenges of transitioning between parks and urban terrain. On Sunday the action moves to Georgetown in Dumfries for the second event in the Scottish Urban Orienteering League. It's a relatively modern estate with generally light traffic and lots of interconnecting paths. Entries for both events are now open on SI Entries.
