The World Masters Orienteering Championships
The World Masters Orienteering Championships took place in beautiful Kosice, Slovakia from 11th to 18th of August. A member of AYROC, Yulia Buhaiets, took part and wanted to share her experience.
‘Being a part of this incredible event made myself, my daughter Anastasiia and many others, very happy. I was returning to orienteering after a break and was determined to achieve new goals.
The main objective for me was the Final A for both Urban and Cross Country races. I managed to get there except for the Cross Country Middle Final Race where I had issues with my dibber. I was 3rd in W45 B in the Long Distance final , which was fabulous for me.
The maps were excellent with somewhat tricky contour details. My daughter was a helper at the event which was a good volunteering experience for her.
Orienteering connects amazing people and takes you to unbelievable places.’
