26th May 23

The 2023 Ayrshire Schools Orienteering Competition was held on the 25th of May in Maybole. South Ayrshire Council kindly closed the golf course for the morning to allow the Orienteering competition to take place. Our thanks go to them. The weather was fantastic and it was an ideal opportunity for children to discover a new sport.

All the children appeared to enjoy the experience and in some of the classes there was keen competition. In particular the prize for the best overall team in the P4/5 boys category was closely fought over, with Heathfield Primary just managing to win.

Team prizes as follows: P4/5 boys, Heathfield, P4/5 girls, St Patricks, P6/7 boys, Newton, P6/7 Girls St Patricks. The Dolphin House trophy was presented to St Patricks, for the best performing small school.

Carrick Academy swept the board winning both the team prizes for S1/2/3.

Well done to everyone who took part, and thanks go to our club members, and Active School representatives for helping out on the day.
