South Ayr Track Event 29th Feb 2004

Thanks to everyone who came along to Belleisle on Sunday and ran around Alloway, Doonfoot & South Ayr. I hope you enjoyed it - I tried to include a few places that you may not have come across before . It's always tricky running on a map like this when you're used to running on an O map with so much more detail so sorry for those of you who met with terrain, fences, tunnels etc that you weren't expecting !

I was concerned about using our controls and punches in some very public areas - I used a mixture of lockable ones and conventional ones on canes. All the controls were recovered OK although 2 punches were broken - one of which was obviously vandalism and the other may have been an accident. That's probably a fairly good result for an event such as this.

Attached are the results - congratulations to winners Dougie Condy (Short) and Mel Perry (Long) . And to Chris Smith who's given me an idea about a new class for next year.
