AYRSHIRE SCHOOLS CHAMPIONSHIPS

More than 370 primary and secondary schools pupils attended this year’s Ayrshire Schools Orienteering Championship at the Beach Park Irvine on Friday 1st June. This year saw entries from the Special Needs sector and a wheelchair entry from a primary school. Tricia Woodward planned the courses, and with an ample supply of course marshals ensuring that no control was moved, everybody enjoyed the event. We were very fortunate in the co-operation from both Tom Armstrong representing North Ayrshire Council, and Susan Kelly, Duty Manager at the Magnum who accommodated us when the weather threatened to turn bad. The support from the three Ayrshire authorities was a vital element once again in the success of the event. Principal winners were:
