19th AYRSHIRE SCHOOLS ORIENTEERING CHAMPIONSHIPS

EGLINTON COUNTRY PARK

WEDNESDAY THE 30TH MAY 2007

Over 400 school children from all parts of Ayrshire battled it out in Eglinton Country Park for the annual Schools Orienteering Championships. This was our highest entry ever with 12 new schools participating. South Ayrshire dominated the Team prizes with Troon, Gardenrose, Marr and Belmont winning five of the School Team Trophies. Gargieston fielded a very strong team to decisively secure the P6/7B Trophy and Crossroads achieved the Small Schools Award.

New schools Forehill Primary and Kilmarnock Academy obtained individual Gold, represented by AYROC club members Lindsay Smith and Lauren Campbell.

Lettie McLaughlin, North Ayrshire Active Schools Coordinator, presented the awards.

Thanks to the Staff of Eglinton Country Park for their support and tent.
